One of my favorite private eyes, Tess Monaghan, is pregnant and confined during her third trimester. Bored and restless, she spends a lot of time looking out her window. She observes The Girl in the Green Raincoat walking her dog every day. Then one day she sees the dog running without its owner, and she becomes obsessed with finding the girl in the green raincoat. The author freely admits that she was influenced by Hitchcock's movie, Rear Window, but she makes it her own. The book offers a neat look at the changes going on in Tess' life. I wonder how she'll juggle motherhood and detective work?
