I picked up the audio book, A Discovery of Witches [2], by Deborah Harkness. It kept popping up in reviews and magazines so I thought I give it a try. I was not really expecting much. What I found was a beautifully written love story. This story has witches, vampires and daemons as the main focus of the book, not usually my thing, but I could not stop listening to it. The story is absolutely addictive, it is full of magic and romance and history, and I did not want it to end. Deborah has created a world where it all makes perfect sense. This is Deborah Harkness’s debut novel and she hit it just right. I am very happy this is going to be a trilogy and I can’t wait until the next installment, Shadow of Night comes out July 2012. This book is a keeper, one that is going on my “favorites” list. For more information and updates check out Deborah Harkness’s [3] webpage. I would be very remiss if I did not mention Jennifer Ikeda, who read the book, she did a fantastic job!
