HCPL Cooling Centers Open May 16-18

Eight HCPL branches have been activated as cooling centers.

[Houston, Texas, May 15, 2024] -- Harris County Office of Homeland Security and  Emergency Management has activated cooling centers across Harris County for the coming weekend. Some HCPL branches are designated cooling centers. 

NOTE: Library services will not be offered during extended hours on Friday, Saturday, or during the special hours on Sunday, but library meeting rooms will welcome everyone who wants to escape the heat.

Friday, May 16

EIGHT HCPL branches will offer cooling centers until 7:00 pm. Library services will not be offered past normal hours of operation.

Saturday, May 17

FOUR HCPL branches will offer cooling centers until 7:00 pm. Library services will not be offered past normal hours of operation.

Sunday, May 18

EIGHT HCPL Cooling Centers Open 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  No library services will be available on Sunday.
