OverDrive has introduced new content control options in its popular Libby reading app. These controls let users filter e-books and e-audiobooks by audience category, helping ensure they see only titles that match their preferences.
One of the key features of this update is the ability to activate the “Libby for Children” setting. When enabled, only titles designated for children will appear in the app. Likewise, adult users who prefer not to see children’s or teen content can easily apply the "Libby for Grownups" option to exclude those materials from their searches.
“HCPL prides itself on providing books for every reader, but we recognize that not every book is for every reader, and have always encouraged parents to be actively involved in their kids’ reading choices. We are happy to have an additional tool to offer that will help all our patrons find the content they feel is appropriate for themselves and their families,” says Amber Seely, Harris County Public Library’s Division Director of Collections and Technical Services.
The default setting for all users remains “Libby for Everyone.” Those wishing to adjust their audience settings can do so by visiting Content Controls within the Libby app. OverDrive has also provided a helpful guide and short video explaining how to use the new controls.
