Tournament of Books is a book club with a competitive spirit!
Tournament of Books has teams of teens in grades 9-12 to tackle a diverse reading list of 12 books curated by HCPL literacy staff from the latest titles in Young Adult literature. Beginning now, teams meet monthly for book parties hosted by HCPL librarians that include book games, reviews, and discussion to prepare them for the competition tournament in the Spring of 2025. All books and materials for book parties are provided by HCPL. The top teams from each branch will prove their book knowledge as they compete against other HCPL branches at the Championship Game. Teams will compete for great prizes and the glory of being the Tournament of Books Champions!

How Can I use the Library?
Attend a Library Event
Libraries are great meeting place for like-minded people. Attending a Teen library program is an excellent opportunity to make new friends with similar interests. And if you're not sure what your interests are...library programs are a great place to start your exploration.
Volunteer
Volunteering is not only a great way to collect contacts and references for college but it's also an excellent place to give back and make a difference in your local community. Teens are able to volunteer in many different ways. Â Learn More Here
Stay Current and Vote
Being up to date on current events and what's happening locally and globally is easy at the library. In addition to the many periodical publications, the library also offers resources to help Teens research political issues and history so when the time comes to vote (which you can also do at most libraries), Teens will be ready!
Organize and Make Goals
If you've ever needed a space to go to where you can just hang out and chat with friends or a quiet space to do your homework uninterrupted, the library offers both! Most locations have meeting rooms or study rooms for patrons to use.
