Children's Book Week Event Saturday, May 15th 2pm

Saturday afternoon May 15th at 2pm children of all ages are invited to attend a special program Catch the Reading Express: A Chris Van Allsburg Tribute presented by Julian Franklin. In this exciting tribute to a great American author and illustrator, children will learn more about the man behind the books, the movies and the mysteries. Discover hidden puzzles that he has included in each of his almost 20 books that will have young readers eager to check out and study his works. Kids will learn about how to craft a great story, how to design an illustration, and how to put the two together to create mysteries and stories of their own.

Stop in the lobby of the library and enjoy the cultural items provided by the staff of the Barbara Bush Branch Library in honor of Asian-Pacific American Heritage month. These items will be on display for your enjoyment during May. We are a well-travelled and diverse staff and we are happy to share our treasures with you, our customers.


Children’s Book Week May 9-15 Featuring Special Activities Each Day for Kids

Children’s Book Week May 9-15 features special activities each day for children.

Monday afternoon May 10th Book Buddies meet at 4:30pm in the Robin Bush Room to discuss books they recently read and enjoyed. All kids 8-12 years are invited.

Tuesday afternoon, May 11th is craft day! Children will make Jazzy Utility Jars in the Robin Bush Room at 4:30pm. Children 6-12 years are welcome to come create this exciting craft!

Wednesday afternoon May 12th the InterGen Garden Club Meets in the Robin Bush Room at 4:30pm. Join us young and old for an afternoon of gardening in our own library garden.

Special programs for Adults this week

On May 6 at 10:00 am the library will present "Senior Movie Morning."  The movie this month will be a comedy form 1934, starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert.

 Also on May 6, Workforce Solutions will present "Creating a Resume," from 1:30--3:30 pm, in the Earl Elliott Meeting Room. You may have skills an employer is looking for, however if your resume doesn't  highlight those skills, you will never get to the interview.  Develop a professional resume that will match your skills and experience to the job and employer in your area of interest.


Tween Event at the Library Do Not Miss It!

Tweens 10 to 13 years we have a program just for you! Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 6pm Tweens will play Wii and other games in the Earl Elliott Room. Tweens come join us for a fun filled time and friendly competition!
