UPDATE: Due to Kanopy's unexpected price increase, HCPL users now have 5 tickets per month.
How Kanopy Tickets Work
On November 1, 2023, Kanopy play credits will change to tickets. At the beginning of each month, users will receive a ticket allotment. Harris County Public Library Kanopy users will receive 5 tickets. Keep in mind that tickets do not roll over from month to month.
This update provides users with clear insight into how many tickets are required and how long they will have to watch a title or series before pressing play.
4 Important Notes
- The Great Courses requires tickets. The number of tickets and viewing period is clearly labeled for each course. Users can watch as many Great Courses as their ticket allotment allows for each month
- After starting a video, users can watch it as many times as they would like within the viewing period without using more tickets.
- Some titles, like Kanopy Kids, do NOT require tickets.
- For episodic titles, like TV series and The Great Courses, users can see what content the tickets unlock (e.g., "Season 1" or "all"). Users have access to a "Continue Watching" shelf so they can pick up where they left off and see how much time is remaining.
This change was implemented by Kanopy. All libraries using the service must move to the ticketing system.
