Online Resources Scheduled Maintenance

Online services will be performing updates to their databases in the coming days

EBSCO and Gale, two of HCPL's online resource providers, will be performing major maintenance on their systems in the coming days. While EBSCO does not anticipate an interruption of service, users should be aware that new and updated content will be delayed during the ten-day maintenance process. Udemy, Gale's popular learning tool, will also perform a brief update to its systems.

EBSCO

The maintenance period begins Friday, July 26, and should be completed by Monday, August 5. Most EBSCO products will experience a pause in the availability of new or updated content. EBSCO resources will remain accessible and available for use, but EBSCO warns that it may take up to 10 days to resume full content currency.

EBSCO resources that might be most noticeably affected include

  • Flipster - New issues of digital magazines may be delayed until the 10-day maintenance period is over.
  • Novelist Plus and Novelist K-8 Plus: Newly released books may not appear in recommendations until the 10-day maintenance period is over.
  • Learning Express, EBSCO eBooks and Time & Life Magazine Archives are updated much less frequently, so delayed additions should be much less significant, though still possible.

Gale Presents: Udemy

Routine site maintenance will be performed on Monday, July 29, 8:00 am - 12:00 noon. During this window, Users will experience a brief service downtime and slower site performance. Udemy should return to normal performance levels when this maintenance is completed. During the maintenance window, patrons may encounter Gale’s error message: “This maintenance is being done to ensure long-term stability and optimal site performance. The time frame selected allows the technical teams on three continents to do the appropriate testing. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
