New Hours at Kingwood Branch Library

The Kingwood Branch Library will have a new schedule of hours when the new library opens on April 19th. Online services are still available 24/7 at www.hcpl.net. The new Kingwood Branch Library schedule will be: Monday 1-9, Tuesday 10-6, Wednesday Closed, Thursday 10-6, Friday 1-6, Saturday 10-5.  If you have any questions, please call 713-749-9000.

Closing Day, Opening Day and Important HOLDS Information!

The Kingwood Branch Library will close at its current location at 5 PM on March 13. We will reopen at the new location, 4400 Bens View Lane, on April 19th at 10 AM. Join us in celebrating our Grand Opening starting with an official opening and continuing until 9 PM. Watch this site for more information regarding this big event in our library life!

Moving Week 2 - From the old to the new

Last week, the library's collection was moved from the old to the new building in three days time and furniture was installed.  This week, the staff will sort the new collection and begin to put what remains in place on the shelves.  Take a look at the pics above to see what's been going on and to get a glance at the progress of some of the new areas of the library!

Wednesday, March 17. Four eighteen wheelers of furniture and 3 panel vans, 20 carts each, several runs per van all on one day, plus the shelving installers finishing the install of shelves and you have the beginnings of chaos. 
 
Throw in the library staff helping move supplies and loading the books from carts to the shelves and the furniture installers starting right in with install almost before the trucks were unloaded and I believe it went from beginning chaos to a full-blown whirl-wind of activity.
 
Thursday, March 18. Looking at yesterday after a good night’s sleep I can see that we had the very good fortune of excellent workmen and library staff. All waited their turn patiently for elevator rides to move their furniture or books; everyone helped each other, no matter which crew they belonged to or which job
