 The Friends and staff of Maud Marks Library have been working very hard to bring you a joyous celebration. You are all warmly invited to the Library's 20 TH anniversary this Saturday August 24 from 10 AM to 2 PM  The program was planned deeply in our roots "Ranch to Branch" . Most activities will be held outside: Big Tex Moonwalk, Calf Roping, Train Rides etc... You can always take a break at "Sno-cones & Treats", relax while have a face painting or come inside for a cowboy story or watch the line dancing. You will have fun and totally refreshed and be ready  for the new school year. See you Saturday

LH7 and the Maud Smith Marks Library

The Maud Smith Marks Library was named after the wife of Emil Henry Marks, whose father was a Prussian immigrant, born as their ship docked in Galveston. Emil Marks established the LH7 Ranch, named after the seven members in his family.  He and Maud May Smith began ranching on 640 acres in the Barker prairie east of Addicks.  To read more about the ranch check out the book titled The LH7 Ranch in Houston’s Shadow by Deborah Lightfoot Sizemore.

Do It Yourself Craft: Time to Decoupage

We have been having so much fun this summer with our adult craft program DIY!  In June, we learned how to decorate cakes.  In July, we learned to knit.  And now, this coming Wednesday at 2 PM, we will be learning the art of decoupage.  We'll be taking plain boring boxes and other shapes and covering them with beautiful cutouts to make nice little knickknacks and places to store little keepsakes.  Don't worry, all the materials will be provided.  All you need to do is click here to register beforehand.  We'll see you then!
