Help Wanted!

We live in such a great community.  Katy gives to those in need with all their heart.  Our annual food drive is such a success and we always have plenty of volunteers to keep our library running.  Did you know there was even more you could do to make the Katy community an incredible place to live?

Right now, the Maud Marks Library needs ESL tutors.  We need people willing to teach adults English on a volunteer basis once a week for at least 9 months.  You don't need to be able to speak another language to teach ESL, in fact, we would prefer if you didn't!  All you need is a willingness to help new immigrants become acclimated with the American way of life.

We will be hosting a tutor training session on Saturday, March 19 at 9 AM.  There is no charge for the session or the training materials.  We'll even feed you lunch!

Springtime Craft

Kids, be sure to come to the Maud Marks Branch next Wednesday, March 9 at 4:30pm to make your own birdfeeder!  The hungry birds in your yard will thank you. This craft is for school-aged children.

Another good reason to visit your library

When we need a book ,  a CD or a movie, we go on line to request from our library and wait for it to arrive to pick up. There are other times we should visit our library, especially now that HCPL materials are "floating" which means they will stay at the location they are returned. If you think the maud marks collection have been expanded, you are very right. Come and browse. You may find a long lost interest or a title that would jog your memory. "New" materials arrive every day, especially DVD's

The Tax Man Cometh

Yes! We finally have the 1040 instruction booklets and forms!  We also have  1040 EZ, and 1040-A forms and instructions.  If you are looking for a form we don’t have, no worries, just log on to The IRS website and download the forms.  You still have plenty of time to file those taxes , the deadline has been extended to Monday, April 18th.

Afternoon Art

Each month on the the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 4:30 pm, we have a craft session for elementary school-aged children. We'll be having some extra sessions uring Spring Break . To see pictures from some of the things we've done in the past, go to the library's online photo album on Flickr.
