Mountains Beyond MountainsTitle to be discussed:  Mountains Beyond Mountains, by Tracy Kidder.  Wednesday January 5, 11 a.m., at 6104 Auden.  Summary:  "In this excellent work, Pulitzer Prize-winner Kidder immerses himself in and beautifully explores the rich drama that exists in the life of Dr. Paul Farmer.... Throughout, Kidder captures the almost saintly effect Farmer has on those whom he treats." From Publishers Weekly

 

Fall Book Sale

I would like to thank everyone who helped make our fall book sale such a success.  All of the proceeds benefit the programs and collections of the library, and your support is invaluable.  I would also like to thank Carol Turpin who contributed the quilt that was raffled, as well as Keddy Outlaw, Nancy Antle, Kelly Edna, and Connie Little, for running the book sale.  Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Book sale and raffle

The Friends of the West University Library will hold their Fall book sale from 10 AM until 2 PM on Saturday November 20.  A nice assortment of books for all ages will be available.

Disney animation art on display

  Disney animation cels are on display in the children's section of the Library.  Get re-aquainted with Tramp, Lucifer, Jaques, Sgt. Tibbs and other characters.  The display will be in the Library until Thanksgiving.

The ImperfectionistsTitle to be discussed:  The Imperfectionists: a novel, by Tom Rachman.  Date of meeting: Wednesday December 1, 11:00a.m., at 6104 Auden.  Summary:  "In his zinger of a debut, Rachman deftly applies his experience as foreign correspondent and editor to chart the goings-on at a scrappy English-language newspaper in Rome.
