MRS. BARBARA BUSH AND MINI VISIT THE LIBRARY

Mrs. Barbara Bush and her dog Mini visit the library

Mrs. Barbara Bush and her 18-month old Maltese poodle named Mini made a surprise visit to the Barbara Bush Branch Library on January 5, 2011, to do a special preschool story time about dogs. Debbie Hudson, Children's Assistant , began by reading several stories for the children. I Love Dogs, by Saltzberg

Then Mrs. Bush read the children the book called I Love Dogs. When she finished, she invited the children to come up to pet Mini, who seemed to love all the attention. A dog puppet craft rounded out the event. And a good time was had by all!

HOLY WALKAMOLIES! THEY ARE WINNERS!

Holy Walkamolies Fitness Challenge Team

This fall, Harris County offered its employees the chance to form teams to participate in the Step-2-It fitness challenge. The Barbara Bush Library formed a team of ten members who called themselves the Holy Walkamolies. We are proud to announce that this group scored in the Top Ten by coming in eighth place among all county-wide teams. These ladies walked an incredible average of 737,601 steps or 368.8 miles during the 50 days of this challenge. Most of it was probably just doing their daliy work!! It was great motivation to have fun and get healthier at the same time.
