Job Search Seminar Series - Rebranding Your Skills

On Thursday, April 15 the Barbara Bush Branch Library will host a Workforce Solutions job search seminar from 1:30-4:00 pm titled "Rebranding Your Skills." Expand your job search prospects by rebranding your skills. This workshop will teach you to identify the skills you have gained in the past and present them in a way that catches the attention of employers, thus helping you to move into a new job or even a new industry.

The workshop will be held in the Earl Elliott Meeting Room on the 1st floor of the library, which is located at 5817 Cypresswood Drive in Spring. Call 281-376-4610 for more information. No registration is required. There will be no employer's representatives at these seminars.

"Whirligigs" on Exhibit at the Barbara Bush Branch Library

Whirligig

W. Roland MCClellan has provided us with a wonderful, fun exhibit for our glasscase in the lobby. After retirement, Roland was motivated to explore his creativity. He found that whirligigs offered almost unlimited design and mechanical challenges. The whirligigs in this exhibit are only a few examples of what can be done with this interesting media.

Knowledge Exchange

Please join us this Friday, April 9th from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm in the Earl Elliot room. Our new knitting project, helmet liners, must be made of 100% wool.  For assistance with the pattern, please bring circular needles, brown, grey, black, tan or a combination of these colors and a dollop of perseverance. My goal is to have thirty ready for combat in September. If you would like to try this pattern at home, http://knitting.about.com/od/hatpatterns/a/helmetliner.htm, has good instructions. We will mail the liners to a troop this fall, just before it gets cold in Afghanistan.
