Announcing the Knit Wits: Teen Knitting Club!

Every summer, we do Camp Knit-a-Lot at the library and when it's over, everyone asks for a monthly knitting program for teens. We've taken the plunge and starting this month, we will be offering Knit Wits, a teen knitting club, the last Tuesday of the month at 6pm. Just bring your latest projects and supplies. Miss Sharon will be on hand to help you untangle your knitting problems. See you on Tuesday, November 24th at 6pm for our first meeting!

Visit with Fire Investigators Tom Petty and K-9 "Hunter"

Last week, Tom Petty and K-9 "Hunter"provided an informative program on fire safety for families.

During the program, children learned several key things that will keep them safe from danger.

  • Recognize a smoke detector and know what sound it makes.
  • If you hear an alarm or see/smell smoke (do not hide - go outside).
  • Officer Petty showed examples of lighters and matches.  He explained that these items  are tools for adults, not toys.
  •  Then Hunter demonstrated how to crawl on the ground to safety.

After the program children took time to meet our guests and have their photograph taken.

Fire Prevention Program for Families this Tuesday!

Come Meet Fire Investigator Tom Petty and K-9 Hunter!

Fire investigators Tom Petty and K-9 "Hunter" will be visiting the Atascocita Branch Library this Tuesday (Nov. 10th) at 4:00 pm. Come learn how to make your home environment a safe place for everyone.

  • Tom Petty and dog Hunter will stay after the program for photo opportunities. So, don't forget your camera!

While you are at the library you can checkout fun filled books to read at home. No Dragons for Tea is one of my person favorites. This book's rhyming text and humorous story is one that children will not forget.

Halloween Storytimes This Week

We will be presenting holiday programs throughout the week, and children may wear their Halloween costumes.

* Miss Susan has created a wonderful craft for the Pre-school and Toddler programs.

* In our Infant Lapsit programs we are having a party, which will include a Halloween musical parade through the library.
