La Porte Branch Library

The Friends of La Porte Library have purchased two Hatch Computers and tables for our youngest customers. These computers are loaded with educational and kid-friendly games.  Already they are a favorite part of the children's area. Thank you Friends for your continuing support of the Library!

The Cedarhurst Cemetery, established in 1901 as the first cemetery in La Porte, was in urgent need of repair and cleaning. On April 6, local service organizations and volunteer groups worked together to clean and repair the cemetery, as reported on the front page of The Bay Area Observer, Volume 4, No. 18, April 25, 2013. The Cedarhurst Cemetery is located “directly behind La Porte’s Wastewater Treatment Plant on South 4th Street and borders Little Cedar Bayou.” The newspaper further notes that the cemetery “is believed to reside on private property.”
