Gulf Coast Reads Author Spotlight: Julia Heaberlin

Julia Heaberlin is the author of six acclaimed thrillers including, Night Will Find You, the 2024 Gulf Coast Reads selection chosen by popular vote in May. She is a native of Decatur, Texas northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. She has been praised for the depth with which she draws her characters, her page-turning plots and the beauty of her prose.

The Gulf Coast Reads Committee is ecstatic to announce that Julia Heaberlin will join us on October 30 for a very special author talk. She will be joined by Ashley Winstead, herself an outstanding author of thrillers. The event will be held at HCPL's West University Branch Library and is free and open to the public. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A session and book signing. Keep reading for more details.

It is telling, and frankly heartening as library folk ourselves, that Heaberlin pays homage to the role the Decatur Public Library played in her development as a person and a writer, "my chief entertainment in July and August was walking in 100-degree heat to the small, historic stone building that had been converted into a library by the sheer enthusiasm of its literary citizens."

All of this makes Night Will Find You a standout choice for 2024 Gulf Coast Reads.

About Gulf Coast Reads

Reading really is one of the most perfect pastimes. It cannot only be enjoyed as an incredibly rewarding solitary pursuit but also has an added social dimension: talking about and sharing insights and questions about a good book with others who have read it can be just as satisfying an experience. That, in a nutshell, is the motivating idea behind Gulf Coast Reads, which, this October, marks its fourteenth year of bringing readers from across southeast Texas together to read, discuss, and learn together. We hope you will join us this October for what promises to be a thrilling month.
