Sci-Fi Saturday: An Out of this World Experience at the Library!

The LSC-Tomball Community Library had an out of this world experience hosting its Sci-Fi Saturday program earlier this month! This event brought in patrons of all ages who participated in numerous programs and crafts and featured a wide range of popular sci-fi fandoms, including Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Stranger Things, and so much more! Special guests from The Star Garrison of the 501st Legion surprised guests dressed as Storm Troopers, Jawas, and other notable Star Wars characters.

Patrons immersed themselves in numerous activities throughout the day, including Padawan lightsaber training, repairing a droid via VR headset, building their own 3D Paper TARDIS, and earning tons of free giveaways and goodies! Volunteers from the Tomball Friends of the Library, NCL Texas Topaz, Cy-Fair High School Key Club, and library staff and volunteers generously donated their time to help work the event.

Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library’s Teen Librarian Victoria coordinated the event with help from the YA and Adult department. She was excited to announce that “we had a blast with everyone who joined us to celebrate our love for science fiction. We're especially grateful to The Star Garrison of the 501st Legion for coming out and sharing their amazing costumes and props with us. They were a huge hit with the kids and adults alike. We hope that everyone had as much fun as we did!”
