History
The original Cypress Creek Library was built in 1976. In the Fall of 1997, a referendum was passed to provide funds to build a new and larger replacement library adjacent to the existing building. The new building was named in honor of former First Lady Barbara Bush, who was lifelong advocate for reading and literacy. Barbara Bush Branch Library opened to the public on December 18, 2002. Mrs. Bush visited the library several times to read stories to the children. She passed away in 2018 but we honor her memory by continuing to promote reading and literacy.
