As part of the Texas State Library’s statewide move to a new Interlibrary Loan (ILL) management system, HCPL ILL services will not be available May 17 - 27.
During the changeover which begins on May 17, you will no longer be able to request ILLs through the Texas Group Catalog on WorldCat. You will not be able to place requests in the new ShareIt ILL system until May 27.
Please note that this announcement pertains to ILL services only. Holds on HCPL and reciprocal borrowing partner library items will not be affected.
Texas libraries are migrating to a new system between 05/01/24 and 06/30/24. Here are some changes you can expect in the coming weeks:
- HCPL’s ILL request service will be down from Friday, 5/17/24 until Monday, 5/27/24. Requests made before 5/17/24 will continue to be processed through July 2024. New requests may not be made during the down period.
- Requesting will resume in the new SHAREit ILL system on 5/27/24.
- During the migration period (5/1/24 – 6/30/24), expect some delays in filling ILL requests as libraries migrate their services to the new system. Fill times will gradually return to normal as more libraries go live in the new system.
- Requests placed in the old ILL system will continue to be processed and delivered to patrons through the month of July 2024. Loan periods may be abbreviated to ensure those loans are returned and closed out before the old system is shutdown.
- When the new system goes live, remember to update your ILL bookmark from the Texas Group Catalog to the new Armadillo Network Catalog.

HCPL’s Interlibrary Loan services are switching to a new system called SHAREit. Part of this new system is a new website and catalog where you can search for and place requests on items. This new catalog is called Texas Armadillo Network.

Our Interlibrary Loan services are available through participation in the Texas State Library’s Interlibrary Loan program. The Texas State Library made the decision to transition to a new Interlibrary Loan system and that decision affects all libraries who participate in the Texas State Library’s Interlibrary Loan program.

We will begin our migration on Wednesday, May 17th, and it will last until Saturday, May 27th. During this time, you will not be able to place any new Interlibrary Loan requests, but any requests placed before the migration will be filled as usual. Other libraries throughout Texas will be migrating between May 1st and June 30th.

Not at all! This change is only for Interlibrary Loan requests, and it will not affect your ability to place holds on items through our Harris County Public Library website or app.
