HOUSTON, TX – Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM) and Harris County Public Library (HCPL) invite the public to a Campus Completion Celebration on August 29th, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The open house will mark the culmination of MAM's campus expansion project at 1625 Blalock Road. One highlight of the event will be a sneak preview of HCPL @ MAM, a new library and innovation Lab. The new library will feature a state-of-the-art maker space to make lifelong learning and skill-building accessible for the Spring Branch community and beyond.
This celebration will offer a glimpse of what is to come for HCPL at MAM, including an opportunity to view the new space opening this fall. On hand for the festivities will be a small, curated selection of books, HCPL's "Super Library on Wheels"—the Curiosity Cruiser—and a sampling of maker equipment and projects for guests. HCPL will also be signing up new patrons and distributing our signature library Knowledge Cards.
HCPL at MAM is part of HCPL’s Maker Central initiative and will give residents free access to advanced technology and hands-on learning opportunities that build digital literacy, support workforce development, creativity, and make entrepreneurship an achievable goal.
"Patrons will be able to work with an 80-watt laser engraver, a 15-needle embroidery machine, and 3D scanning and printing technology, with additional equipment planned for the future. It's a chance for entrepreneurs, makers, and lifelong learners to develop new skills and bring their ideas to life at no cost." Kenneth Thomas, Innovation Labs Coordinator for HCPL.
The event's theme, "Explore. Connect. Celebrate." reflects the spirit of the day, which will feature food, games, prizes, and activities for all ages. Guests can sample offerings from local vendors, visit the new Community Café, and tour the expanded MAM Resale Store and Boutique.

The celebration will also showcase MAM's new Group Volunteer Space, highlighting the organization's continued investment in bringing people together to support neighbors in need and strengthen the community.
