New Procedure for MCMLS Patrons Using Libby App and OverDrive

Overdrive, the parent company of the Libby app, has made updates to its system that may cause confusion for patrons of the Montgomery County Memorial Library System (MCMLS). It may appear to some MCMLS cardholders that their holds have been lost.

This update does not affect Harris County Public Library (HCPL) cardholders.

If you are an MCMLS cardholder and can no longer access your holds or checkouts in the Libby app, you will need to re-enter your MCMLS library card as a "reciprocal lending partner" card. Below are step-by-step instructions for both the Libby App and the Overdrive website for desktop users. You will need your Montgomery County library card number and PIN. If you don't have them, please contact MCMLS: MCMLS Locations and Contact Information

Instructions for Libby

1. To re-enter into Libby you will need to Add a New Card with HCPL as the library

2. Then, on the following screen, click on Montgomery County as a "Partner Library" and then log in with your MCMLS Library Card Number and PIN

Instructions for the Overdrive Website

To log in on a desktop at hcpl.overdrive.com, opens a new window, users must select Montgomery County from the library drop-down and then enter their MCMLS Library Card Number and PIN.

Please note, MCMLS cardholders will not be able to place new holds from HCPL's digital catalog, but existing holds, according to the latest from Overdrive, will be honored.
