In last Friday's under50over Program, Moises Villaseñor presented the Technology Training Zoo. He showed people various technologies that people enjoy today.
The Books Alive! celebration is being held the week of the CCISD Spring Break - March 15 through March 19, 2010. Each day includes special activities or programs for children. The Children's Department is lucky enough to have the Friends of Freeman Library sponsor the programs this year which means... All of the programs are free! Look below for a list of activities happening this week. (For all programs requiring tickets: Tickets will be given out 30 minutes prior to the start of the program at the Children's Information Desk. Space is limited, so please, get here early to get your tickets!) If you have any questions, please call us at 281-488-1906.
From Jorie Nissen & Carola Massimino:
In last Friday's under50over Program, we enjoyed hearing Kimberly Weathers, Ph.D speak on this Friday, March 5th at 10:30 am. Dr. Weathers presented "Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God:Colonial American Religion". This presentation was part of a joint program of the University of Houston Clear Lake, C.L.A.S.P. and Freeman Branch Library.
Want to learn how to play chess? The Children's Department hosts a youth Chess Club every Monday* night at 6:30. Children of all skill levels are welcome. Several chess boards are laid out and an instructor teaches the rules of the game. Already know the rules? Come and learn some new strategies to beat your next opponent! It's a great way to learn a new game and meet new people.
