The November release of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes , opens a new windowadaptation sparked fans to revisit The Hunger Games. Eileen

Starring Anne Hathaway, this twisted tale of obsession is based on the novel Ottessa Moshfegh. In theaters on December 1.  

Leave the World Behind 

Based on the novel, opens a new window by Rumaan Alam, this suspense film features a star-studded cast that includes Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, and Kevin Bacon. In select theaters on December 8.  

 American Fiction 

Featuring an incredible cast that includes Jeffrey Wright, Tracee Ellis Ross, Issa Rae, and Sterling K. Brown, this satire is based on the novel Erasure, opens a new window by Percival Everett. In theaters on December 15. 

Wonka 

Though not a direct adaptation, Wonka is a prequel to Roald Dahl classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, opens a new window that explores the adventures of a young Willy Wonka (Timothée Chalamet). In theaters on December 15.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Jason Momoa returns as DC Comics hero Aquaman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. In theaters on December 22.  

The Color Purple 

This musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel, opens a new window stars Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, and Halle Bailey and is not to be missed. In theaters on December 25. 

Ferrari  

Adam Driver is Enzo Ferrari in this biographical film based on the book Enzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine, opens a new window by Brock Yates. In theaters on December 25. 

The Boys in the Boat 

Based on the book, opens a new window by the same name by Daniel James Brown, this film starring Joel Edgerton is the inspirational story of the University of Washington’s rowing team to the 1936 Berlin Olympics. In theaters on December 25. 

Watch at Home 

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever  

This animated adaptation of the novel, opens a new window by Jeff Kinney will delight fans of the books. Premieres December 8 on Disney+.  

Reacher Season Two 

Lee Child's Jack Reacher is back for another explosive season! This season will follow the eleventh book in the series: Bad Luck and Trouble, opens a new window. Premieres December 15 on Amazon Prime.  

Percy Jackson and the Olympians  

The highly anticipated adaptation of Rick Riordan's beloved Percy Jackson and the Olympians series will hopefully erase the memory of the previous films. This will be the Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief , opens a new window fans deserve! Premieres December 20 on Disney+.
