History
Located in Historic Katy, this library was one of the earliest in Harris County. It was started by the Katy Garden Club in private homes in 1921. It later shared space in a grocery and furniture store and then took over the old Katy Fire Department building on 2nd Avenue. When first opened the library only offered 12 hours of service per week. Construction began on the current Franz Road location in 2002. The grand opening was on Sunday, April 27, 2003.
