History
The original Kingwood Library opened in 1983. It was the result of a grassroots effort by area residents who saw the need for a library in their growing community. The current library building was funded jointly by Harris County and the City of Houston. It opened its doors on April 19, 2010. After flooding from Hurricane Harvey occurred in 2017, the building was rehabilitated and reopened May 29, 2018.
Meet the Manager
Hi, I'm Ryan Fennell. I have served within Harris County Public Library in various roles since 2007. Fortunately, my time with system goes back much further. Thanks to my family I was an HCPL kid. As a child, I got my library card at the Cypress Creek Branch. Stopping by a branch on the way home from anywhere was the usual routine. Even as an adult I used the Tomball Library regularly while earning my degree in Information Studies. In 2016 I joined the Kingwood Branch Library as its Branch Manager. It is a joy to work with the Kingwood staff every day. The support provided by the Friends of the Library, Kingwood beyond amazing. When I’m not at work, I challenge my kids to make me laugh.
