Family Place Libraries provide fun, play-based environments where young children and their caregivers can learn, connect, and grow together. Each center features specially trained staff, interactive learning spaces, and resources designed to strengthen early literacy and family engagement. The Family Place model is an integral part of HCPL’s Growing Readers early literacy initiative, which recognizes that good health, early learning, parental involvement, and community support are essential to every child’s development.
The new Family Place Learning Center at Baldwin Boettcher marks the culmination of HCPL’s multi-year initiative to make all 26 of its full-service branches Family Place Libraries. The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation and its corporate partners have been key supporters in helping HCPL bring these valuable resources to families across Harris County.
“This milestone represents more than just completing a project—it’s a commitment to ensuring that every family in Harris County has access to the tools, spaces, and support children need to thrive,” said Linda Stevens, Division Director of HCPL Programs, Partnerships and Outreach. “We’re grateful to the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation and our many partners who share our vision for early literacy and lifelong learning.”
