Over the last few years of kindles, iPads, computers, and libraries, I have heard many people talk about how holding a book in hand is so much better than reading from a digital device. They love the smell and feeling of turning the pages. I believe the same holds true for obtaining those very same books. Curbside service has been a great way to get books in the hands of patrons during a pandemic, but there is something to be said for the connection of face-to-face interaction; an experience that curbside book check-out cannot provide.
After being closed to the public for over a year, the Harris County Libraries opened their doors once again May 19th. Although they did do an amazing job providing curbside service to the public, being closed made us all appreciate the open library more than ever before. You know the old saying absence makes the heart grow fonder. So, take this new opportunity to visit a Harris County Library near you, and come on in! We have missed you all!
