    To start using the machines we offer in our maker locations, just follow these steps to get started: 

    1. Sign up at hcpl.beanstack.org
    2. Select Maker Central program
    3. Select the maker machine you want to be certified for.
    4. Find an orientation class to complete the activity badge 
    5. Complete activity badges to get certified for device access 
    6. Book time at a maker location.

     After you have been certified to use one or more HCPL maker machines, follow the steps below to book a time.

    1. go to hcpl.beanstack.org  
    2. Sign into your account 
    3. Go to the Maker Central tab and click on Rewards.
    4. Scroll down to the reward that shows you have completed orientation for the machine you want to use  
    5. Under instructions, click on the link and you will be taken to the Equipment Reservation page  
    6. Fill out the Equipment Reservation Form and click “Submit”. You will receive an initial email confirming receipt of your request. You should receive a second email that confirms your appointment within one business day.

    Yes, but there must be at least two business days between appointments. This can vary location to location and depends on staff availability and library hours of operation. 

    Bookings are one hour. Staff may allow an extension of the time based on the project, other appointments, and staff availability. Extensions are at HCPL staff discretion. 

    All our machines, except for the 3D printer, are completely free to use. Simply bring your files and approved materials and you will be ready to go! 

    There is a 10¢ per gram charge for 3D printer filament. You cannot supply your own 3D printer filament.

    Each maker location is different. Not all types of machines are available at all locations. Visit our Maker Central page for details about specific maker locations.
